How ResearchSpace uses AI

How AI is used
ResearchSpace uses artificial intelligence to assist with selected research and publishing tasks. AI may help analyse scientific papers, answer questions about papers, check claims against the material cited for them, and prepare summaries and digests.
AI services are used only where they have been authorised for that purpose; see the privacy notice.
Explaining papers
AI can help turn information from scientific papers into reader-facing explanations, summaries and other research content. ResearchSpace links each claim to the passages of the paper it relies on, so that you can read the source yourself.
Second AI model check
Some claims undergo an additional AI-based check against the source material cited for them, shown as “Second AI model check”. This is an automated AI check, not peer review and not independent scientific verification.
What a claim's labels mean
A claim’s check has one of these results:
- Supported by the paper's text: the cited passage says it. This is a check against the paper, not a check of the science.
- Supported, with caveats: the passage supports it, with caveats shown beside the claim.
- Not confirmed or Not supported by the cited text: the passage does not settle it, or does not say it.
And it says where it comes from:
- Stated in the paper by its authors
- An AI model's interpretation of the paper
- Worded by an AI model
- Not independently replicated
ResearchSpace does not independently verify or replicate any finding.
Ask about this paper
You can ask questions about a paper through an AI-assisted chat. It answers from the paper’s available source material and the claims checked against it, and shows the pages it relied on.
While the chat is open, it tells you that you are talking to an AI:
You are talking to an AI model. It answers only from this paper's text and the claims checked against it, and it can still be wrong. Not peer review.
Each answer is marked “AI answer”. An AI answer is not professionally or scientifically certified.
Market digests
ResearchSpace may use AI to prepare concise digests from selected cited sources, such as official economic releases. Each digest links the sources it was prepared from.
AI-generated content and its labels
Some published ResearchSpace content is prepared with AI assistance or generated with AI. Not all content is AI-generated, and not all of it is written by people. Where content is AI-generated, it is identified by labels you can see and by machine-readable metadata that marks it as AI-generated. Posts and claim pages carry this notice:
AI-generated. Written by an AI model from the paper and checked, claim by claim, against the paper's own text. Not peer review. Read the paper for anything you rely on.
Market digests carry their own version:
AI-generated. Written by an AI model from the official releases it cites, with each figure checked against its quoted source. Not financial advice. Read the sources for anything you rely on.
Feed cards are marked “AI-generated” too, and so are the descriptions other websites show when a page is shared.
Human review
AI checks are not peer review. Automated checks can hold a claim back from publication, and an AI model cannot release it on its own. A new post is published only after a person reviews it, unless a different policy is recorded for it. Each post says which applies:
- A person reviewed this version before it was published.
- An administrator published this version although an automated check did not pass.
- Published before human review was introduced. No person reviewed this version.
Where ResearchSpace indicates that content has undergone human review, a person has reviewed or approved it for publication. It does not mean that ResearchSpace has independently peer reviewed the underlying scientific research.
Readers can report a post, and authors can respond to a claim about their paper; neither changes a claim’s check.
Limits
AI systems can produce incomplete, inaccurate or misleading information, including confident statements that are wrong. The checks reduce this but do not remove it. AI output should not replace reading the cited source or, where relevant, professional, scientific, legal or medical advice.
Your data
AI-assisted features may involve the processing of information by ResearchSpace and, where applicable, authorised third-party service providers. Information about data processing, recipients, providers, transfers, safeguards and retention is in the privacy notice.
